While it may not quite reach the levels of excellence set by Oath or Ark, it remains a solid addition to the series. The OST maintains the same high quality as its predecessors, and the overall flow and pacing of the game are well-executed. However, it does suffer from a sense of disjointedness due to its three distinct characters. Additionally, there's a noticeable imbalance in difficulty, the game is way harder with the first melee character. The repetition of the same scenarios across all three campaigns can lead to a feeling of monotony and staleness over time too. 7
An excellent action rpg that's tightly paced and a lot of fun. This was my second playthrough, going through as Hugo this time. It's a little repetitive going through the tower again but Hugo has his own fighting style and story to keep it fresh.
Fantastic JRPG dungeon crawler with some fun and interesting abilities. I did my playthough as Yunica and enjoyed the story quite a bit. It had some decent pacing albeit with some backtracking here and there which is normal for these kind of games and some decent plot elements which grew to satisfying climaxes. Combat was solid and enjoyable throughout and some of the bosses had some fun and interesting mechanics attached. Any game that plays like this is a good time in my book and I look forward to playing through the game with the other characters and and playing the rest of the series.
This is like a more modern version of Secret of Mana, and i love it. Good feel in the exploration and well designed boss fights.
Enjoyed this a lot more then I anticipated, after first failing to get into it a few years ago. The combat was simple but very fun, although I wish the tutorials were a bit better as it took me a bit to get used to some of the magic and using the points you gather throughout the game. For a game localized in one tower nothing feels repetitive, the bosses are all unique and have fun mechs (if not slightly annoying at times), and the music is brilliant. I look forward to playing the other Ys games!
