Game Club is a play on a book club, with the emphasis on play. Games are nominated and played as part of a group individually, discussing thoughts whilst beating the game.
At the end of each month the people that beat the nominated game get put into a raffle. Winner gets to pick the next months nomination.
Anyone is welcome and encouraged to join in, just come to the Discord!
First things first, hop into the Discord and say hey! Next register to join Backlog Beat, so you can be added to this website and have your thoughts on nominations shared. Lastly, and the best bit, play the games!
Discussion and thoughts will be shared in the dedicated Discord channel throughout the games nomination, and those that beat the game(s) will be entered into a raffle to pick next!
You'll need to drop your review in the GameClub tab of our shared Google sheet! This will allow the review to be visible on this website, and also enter you into the raffle to pick the next game.
By completing the game and adding your review, as per above, you'll be granted a 'Game Club MVP' role in Discord. At the start of a new month a Discord bot (Nadeko) will run a raffle, choosing one person to nominate the next monthly game!
Monthly game nominations should aim to be less than 15hours long (reference HLTB). Games longer than 15hours can be chosen for a quarterly nomination. Though few on rules, also consider accessibility (platforms available, price point, etc). The more accessible a nomination is, the more participation it'll see!
Yup; the monthly nomination is chosen by the winner of the raffle but we also do quarterly (four per year) nominations for longer games that are decided as a group. We suggest and place votes collectively in the shared Google sheet, and discuss in the Discord!
